Happy First Fathers Day!!

This morning was a special Day it was davids first fathers day I have been loooking forward to celebrating fathers day for david since I married him. I could not wait to make him breakfast and give him fun prizes. This  morning I made his favorite Biscuits and gravy with real butttermilk biscuits, over medium eggs and strawberries. I also found a cute card and a matching  bag me and my mom found at target thanks mom! Because on fathers day the big thing in the Berntsen family is the Father day tie!! as I will show you in a minute. But we were still pretty tired form the other  night we were up until 2 celebrating our almost 2 year anniversary. so He regrettably woke up but he got excited when he saw the food.

David got some fun prizes he got a car washing kit , a toolbox/carrier and a backpack for school. And for something extra special I made up a sweet powerpoint presentation for him on the laptop it had pictures of him and evia from the time she was born until now. I read tender things I had written outloud  as he went through the show and by the end we both had tears in our eyes. I love how my David can be so tender but also be a hard worker a true man. He told me  that was his favorite gift of all of them .

It's a Surprise!!!!

Here are daddy and Evia looking at the slide show after these prizes I gave Davd  the famous fathers day tie. Now when my mum and dad were first married, they started this tradition which I am very happy to start with our family.Every fathers day we would each find something that represented a inside joke or something that represented my dad and we would glue it on a white tie . The first year we did it we scribbled on it and added glitter and beads but as we got older the tie became more elaborate. For Davids ti I put evias handprint on the back of the tie  her name and had her scribble. Then on the front I glued on a peice of motherboard because he loves tinkering with computers and usually the parts are lying in our living room. Then i put a sunshine on there because we call Evia our sunshine. I will expalin a few of  y favorite things i found a button that says Can't sleep clowns will eat me, My dad is deathly afraid of clowns and every time we see one we have to tease him . He loves fireworks so there is a firework on there  his favorite show is monty python and the holy grail so we have a shrubbery, the holy grail and the killer rabbit on there as well. He also loves a bargain and his favorite store is actually the salt lake swap meet where he can barter and bargain for good deals . there are many more memories aon that tie but it would take forever to explain them all. So we can say davids tie look pretty funny without all of the years of stuff on it but it will soon go from this to look like this....

After All of these years and Mequette  actually had to expand the tie to make room  for the grandkids and son in laws. this year the new additions were wall paper a  butterfly a seashell a rainbow a sunshine and something else I cannot remember. But after his prizes we wnet back to bed for a while and got ready to head over to paul and joanns for Davids birthday and fathers day celebration.

We brought two nummy cakes form costco a chocolate cake and a red velvet cake we have so many leftovers it is not even funny so we are taking the leftovers to davids work. But Rex got an icecream machine and made homemade icecream for all of us it was his dads caramel icecream recipe and boy was it to die for !! Evia even helped make the icecream.

Pretty uncanny how david matches his Exterra he he!!

So here is to you my Papsey and grandpa who  helped set the bar on what type of man I wanted to marry I remember watching my grandpa take care of my bed bound grandma  he loved and cared for her diligently and so lovingly every day until she passed away. And My mom and dad have been through so much together and When my sisters passed away my dad was the rock we all looked up to . Dad I am still your little girl and I love you just as much and of course I am still your favorite he he. But because of your wonderful influence I found the man I have always dreamed of and could ever ask for the lord has truly blessed me.David I cannot wait for the journey to eternuity. You have become more of a man  that i have dreamed of by becoming a father . and I am so greatful that you will be the preisthood holder who will be by my side on our journey together i love you and happy fathers day!!

Bathing Beauty

I might regret this later down the road but I taught Evia how to splash and she laughed her head off as she turned our bathroom into a swimming pool.  I think I need to invest  in bounty paper towels. I showed my mom the movie and she said  I was just like that. I was born a fish out of water and I am so glad that love for the water has been passed down to her. Be sure to look at my video bar  on this blog  I added   two funny videos of her one in the tub and one of her jabbering.

Now this picture I took before I took her out of the tub this is the saddest puppy face ever.

Musser Court Update

Allright We ahve been working on musser court very hard and are trying to get rooms livable before our lease agreement  for our house we rent right now ends. Our Landlords agreements go for at least 13 months and if he were to give us an extension of our contract we have now it would be an extra 200 dollars a month so we are now more focused than ever to get most of it done. What we need done now are floors sheetrock  some walls and paint. and the rest we can work on when we are down there. We are trying to have our housewarming and Evias first birthday down there. It is now officially crunch time. And even David got an extra day off from work so we can go work on the house. So if anybody has some cheap decorating ideas please let me know. Evias room aka the care bear room is almost done we need one more coat of sheetrock mud and sanding then we can paint!!! Yay! The bathroom David put up two of the four peices that need to go in. We also looked up estimates for windows ad think we found some good deals that work with the tax rebate on saving energy.

Evia just hangs out in her port a crib we call it the cage. But she loves playing with her lambie and toys at least she can crawl around which makes her happy. so the big question in life right now is How much wallpaper does a 100 plus year old house have? HHMMMM to answer your question you must look what is underneath. Here is before

And here is after
we ripped off all of the paper

Now it doesn't look like we have gotton much done in the seagull room  but we have ripped off 12 yep that is right!! Twelve different wallpapers in one room. We were thinking four or five but as I peeled back each layer the numbers kept coming kind of like a Mary Poppins carpet bag! We used rags sponges and paint peeling palettes to remove the layers once you get the wall soaking wet the paper came off fairly easy, but where it was still dry it was like trying to remove super glue. We were happy to see The blue Venetian plaster behind all of the wall paper was in fairly good shape, we just needed to patch holes and prime it and these walls should be ready for paint as well. But painting will have to wait till we get all rooms deconstructed.

Here is what 100 years of wallpaper looks like. Also between some layers of wallpaper were layers of plaster the hardest and last layer of plaster was on a thin brown paper . We would have just painted over this layer but as soon as you got it wet the dust from the paper would turn the wall all brown. The first day we did this my hands ached when we got home my hand was on that tool most of the day.

HAPPY 24Th BIRTHDAY DAVID!!!

the day before davids birthday we wnet and picked out his presents  we wanted to be sure to get what he wanted. so while he was at work on his birthday i hid the presents around the house and yard to make him work for his prizes. when he came home i sent him on a scavenger hunt. He thought it was pretty cute. I also spent the afternoon making him a red velvet cake from scratch and cream cheese frosting I wanted it to be perfect and he absolutly loved it it was also very fun to make.

Having fun opening presents Evia liked opening them to.

We went to Wingers for Davids birthday dinner we had a blast eatin chicken fingers and asphalt pie.

Can you say Klingon? Or Romulin?
